Work to begin on Community Building renovation

The first dumpster has been put in place so renovation work can begin on the Community Building at Third Street and Grand Avenue.

The building, which has been home to doctors’ offices, financial services and various retail enterprises over the years, is being converted into 24 senior adult apartments. The developer is MACO of Clarkton, Mo., which received $472,098 in in annual tax credits for a period of 10 years, or a total of $4.7 million to develop the project.

The building will have 12 one-bedroom apartments and 12 two-bedroom apartments when completed.
