Winter weather threatens state’s blood supply: Urgent appeal for donors amid crisis

KTUL - January 16, 2024 9:10 am

Winter weather has decimated the state’s blood supply.

Our Blood Institute said it is in serious need of blood donors right now.

OBI believes more than 3,217 blood donations are at risk while winter weather persists in the area.

OBI is the primary blood supplier for the state, helping more than 95% of hospitals, medical facilities and air ambulances with blood.

Last week, the American Red Cross declared an emergency blood shortage. OBI is trying to avoid a similar situation.
