Winfield woman injured in accident

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported a 25-year-old Winfield woman was injured in a one-car accident about 3:41 a.m. Wednesday at Pecan Road and Dry Road, about a half mile south of Newkirk.

Alizabeth Rice was driving a 2017 Chevy Malibu northbound on Pecan Road and failed to negotiate a left curve, the Patrol stated. The car left the roadway to the right and rolled about three times, coming to rest on its wheels in a plowed  field.

Rice was transported by Newkirk EMS to Alliance Health Ponca City in stable condition with head and trunk internal injuries, according  to the report.

The Patrol reported the cause of the accident was intoxication of the driver.
