Wildcat Wrestling named District Champions

The Ponca City Wildcat Wrestling team has been crowned 2020-2021 District Champions.

The Wildcats are now advancing to the OSSAA Dual State Championship on March 13th. Dual State will be held at the Stride Bank Center in Enid.

“The kids persevered and I am very proud of our team effort.” said Head Coach Justin Roland.

This will be the Wildcats first appearance at Dual State since the 2018 season.

The tournament consisted of great competition from all classes. The participating teams include Ponca City, Choctaw, Blackwell, Perry, Deer Creek, Altus, and Pawhuska.

The team wrestled well this weekend and it should give us a lot confidence heading into Regionals!” said Head Coach Justin Roland.

In addition to the team championship, the Wildcats crowned three individual champions. The champions are Christopher Kiser 106, Gabriel Roland 170, and Landon Newlin 182.

The Wildcats also had numerous team members place at their individual weight classes. The following individuals who earned placement are as follows:

Ayden Kreger 6th – 220

The Wildcats next scheduled competition is the OSSAA Regional Tournament on February 12th and 13th. Regional assignments will be released on February 5th.
