Wildcat of the Week #4 is Tay Moore

Ponca City Public Schools - October 10, 2022 6:51 am

The Heather Cannon Wildcat of the Week #4 for the 2022-2023 school year was presented to Po-Hi junior Tay Moore. Superintendent Shelley Arrott said, “Tay Moore is a wonderful teammate and a team player. As the varsity quarterback on the Wildcat football team, Tay strives to be a leader by lifting his teammates up and putting the goals of the team ahead of his personal goals. He is a steadying force and a positive example for his teammates. Coach Harmon said, ‘Tay is a very talented student athlete. He has displayed a great deal of toughness and leadership for the Wildcats this season. We look forward to his continued growth on and off the playing field.’ Not only is Tay a great leader for his own teammates, but he is always in the student section cheering on other Wildcats as they compete.”
“Tay’s teachers say he is a nice, polite and respectful student who is fun to have conversations with because he has a lot of personality. He treats other classmates with respect and encourages them to be an active participant in class. His art teacher, Mr. Miller, stated, ‘Tay is a leader both on and off the field. In art class, he shows an interest and because of his appreciation of the subject matter, I believe it allows other students to feel comfortable and also enjoy participating in art.’ It was fun for me to present this award during Tay’s art class while an outdoor sidewalk chalk activity was occurring.”
“Tay, you are such a conversationalist, and you have an easy-going and fun personality. You are just as comfortable talking with adults as you are with your peers. Leaders have effective communication skills and good communication and leadership is all about connecting with others at various levels. When I am at sites, I make it a point to acknowledge every student I see. Often students will look up and just say hello and then look away, but you always make eye contact with a brilliant smile and are ready to carry on a conversation. You have an expressive personality and are very outgoing, enthusiastic and have a high energy level. Your dynamic personality will serve you well in the future!”
“Tay, you are remarkable young man and I know your future is bright! Thank you for being such a great leader in our school community and a role model for our students. I know you referee little league football and I am sure these little Wildcats look up to you. Your school, family and community are proud of you and look forward to seeing what opportunities come your way in the future.”
The “Wildcat of the Week” Award is sponsored by Heather Cannon Honda.
