Wildcat of the Week #20 is Po-Hi Senior Charlie Poet

Ponca City Public Schools - April 10, 2022 11:35 am

The Heather Cannon Wildcat of the Week #20 for the 2021-2022 school year was presented to Po-Hi senior Charlie Poet.
Superintendent Shelley Arrott said, “Charlie is everything anyone could possibly want in a young man. He is a very active Wildcat who participates in Wildcat golf, serves as secretary of the Po-Hi Student Council and is a member of the National Honor Society. Charlie also has a busy course schedule, including AP classes and concurrent enrollment through NOC at the University Center. Academically, he is one of the top students of the 2021-2022 senior class. In addition to his school activities, he is highly involved with the Evans Theatre Program and has such a theatrical flair that he is often one of the lead roles in any production through the program.”
“Charlie is highly involved and focused on his studies but it goes beyond that … he undoubtedly has exemplary character. He has the kindest heart and is respectful and encouraging to everyone, always has a positive attitude, is willing to accomplish any goal, is well-spoken and is a dedicated teammate. In fact, his teachers all agree he is not only an exceptional student but an exceptional human. Ms. Easley said she has loved seeing Charlie grow from a timid, uncertain freshman into the confident, outgoing, awesome leader he is today. Coach Alexander believes that Charlie’s work ethic, both in the classroom and on the course, is what makes Po-Hi golf better, and that his leadership and dedication to his team filters from the top down. Mrs. Carter, Mrs. Parr and Mr. Taylor’s pride radiated when they shared Charlie’s great characteristics of being a Wildcat. All of his teachers have enjoyed getting to know him and are thrilled to have him in class.”
“Charlie, I have been waiting for your name to come from Team Radio as the Wildcat of the Week and I was thrilled to see it in my inbox this week! However, as I read what the person who nominated you said about you, it really touched me. Your nominator said they have known you for six years and they honestly do not think they have ever seen you do something that wasn’t nice. As I thought about that statement, your PCPS family knows that is an accurate affirmation! Charlie, we all fall short at times but your integrity is top notch! You do the right thing, even when no one is looking, and all PCPS family members agree this describes you perfectly. I am so proud that little Wildcat eyes have you to look to as a role model! Not only are you an exemplary role model for our little Wildcats, but you are a great role model for your peers and adults.”
“You are so involved in not only your own activities, but I see you at many events cheering on and supporting your fellow Wildcats. When I think of you, I think of you as ‘Mr. Po-Hi’ because you are involved in everything and relate well with everyone! Every time I interact with you or I see you interact with others, you are confident, well-spoken and look people in the eye when you talk to them … leadership exudes when you interact with others. You are that student who is a Wildcat to the core and exemplifies what it means to be a Wildcat EVEN when no one is watching!”
“I know in the fall you are going to attend Oklahoma State University and it is your goal to be an industrial engineer. You will be just as dedicated of a Cowboy as you are a Wildcat. OSU is lucky to have you as a future student, and Cowboy Pride will beam upon you as your strong leadership continues to grow! Charlie, you will have great success as an industrial engineer, not only because of your knowledge and skills, but your ability to interact and work well with others. Your honorable character reflects positively on your family, your school and your community, and we are all so very proud of you. You have a great future ahead of you but know this … Po-Hi is a better place because Charlie Poet has been here!”
