The students and staff members at Washington Prekindergarten recently honored veterans during their morning assembly.

Students invited their family members who had served in the military. During the assembly, they invited the veterans in attendance to the stage to introduce themselves and share their branch of the military. Students and staff joined their veteran family members on the stage for a picture.

Army veterans Troy Cochran and Luke Garrison stayed a while and visited several classes to speak about their military experience. Luke Garrison’s son and nephew attend Washington, and Troy Cochran is Principal Tina Fisher’s brother. Luke and Troy are both Po-Hi graduates.

Students colored flags to create a large American Flag (shown in top left picture) to honor Veterans. They also created a big banner shown hanging across the front of the stage. Students and teachers placed pictures on the flags that say “Thank you for your service!”
