Walmart, Sam’s Club To Begin Administering COVID-19 Vaccines Friday

Walmart and Sam’s Club pharmacies across the state are going to start administering vaccine shots on Friday. You don’t have to be a Sam’s Club member to get one.

“Just from making sure that all of our support staff and pharmacists were ready to handle storage requirements and handling requirements,” said Shannon Griggs, the Oklahoma Market Health and Wellness Director.

Griggs said they’ve been prepping for weeks for the COVID-19 vaccines.

“Each store received to begin with 200 doses,” said Griggs.

The doses in Sam’s Club’s and Walmart’s pharmacies are Moderna only. They have been distributed meticulously to 43 locations through the state.

“We have worked with that allocation to receive to do in underserved communities that have limited access to health care,” said Giggs.

If you get your vaccine at their stores, then getting the second dose appointment scheduled would be simple.

“They will actually schedule their second appointment before they leave the facility so they will know when their second dose is coming,” said Griggs.

Doses delivered to stores could vary week to week based on the federal government.

“Obviously we hope to receive it every week,” said Griggs. “But as allocation and supply becomes more available, we can up the allocation as the federal government gives more supply out.”

If you’re eligible to receive a vaccine through the state then you are eligible to get a vaccine at Walmart and Sam’s pharmacies.
