Voters to decide two city commission seats in February

The Ponca City Board of Commissioners approved a resolution calling for a general election for the purpose of electing two commissioners to fill positions 2 and 4 in 2018.

These positions are currently held by Commissioners Nancy Rathbun and Ryan Austin, respectively.

The filing period for the commission seats will be Dec. 4-6. The election date will be Feb. 13, 2018;  if necessary, a runoff election will be held on April 3, 2018.

In two consecutive years, two seats become available on the Board of Commissioners. On the third year, the Mayor’s position is up for vote. Each commissioner and  the Mayor represent the city at large. None of the positions are paid.
