Voters approve tax for Public Safety Center

Ponca City voters gave a wide majority of “yes” votes to fund the proposed Public Safety Center.

With all precincts, absentee mail ballots and early voting ballots counted at 7:55 p.m. Tuesday, the measure passed with 879 yes votes to 377 no votes — a margin of 69.98 percent to 30.02 percent.

Absentee mail voters cast 9 yes votes to 11 no votes, and early voters at the courthouse cast 29 yes votes to 11 no votes.

Those who voted in their precincts on Tuesday voted yes with 841 votes to 355 no votes.

A total of 1,256 ballots were cast in the municipal election.
