Utilities scam reported

Ponca City Now - May 8, 2018 10:22 am

The Ponca City Police Department reports a few local businesses have received calls this morning from a person identifying themselves as their utility provider.
The caller says the businesses should call 1-800-472-0560 and update their ACH information (bank account and routing for automatic payments) or their power will be cut off in a matter minutes. When the businesses indicates they are going to contact the Ponca City Utility Office instead of calling the toll free number, the caller gets argumentative and insists the toll free number is the only one to contact.
The Ponca City Utilities office does not make collection calls or threaten to turn utilities off. This is a scam. Please do not provide any banking or credit card information to anyone over the phone that calls for collections.
