NORMAN, Oklahoma –
The Fall semester has begun for students at the University of Oklahoma and the University of Central Oklahoma.
Face masks are not required for students at either school but administrators are highly encouraging usage.
According to OU Daily, a group of law faculty has filed a report stating Senate Bill 658 and Governor Stitt’s executive order do not prohibit OU or its departments from requiring masks.
Both universities are also promoting vaccinations by hosting on-campus vaccination clinics.
You make sure everyone has the opportunity to be vaccinated. Now we look at the other protocols we need to take to make sure the classroom is safe,” said Joseph Harroz, President of the University of Oklahoma.
Both schools are offering incentives to get the vaccine. OU students are being entered into a drawing for football or basketball season tickets or scholarships worth up to $5,000.
According to a survey at OU, 73% of students have had at least one dose of the vaccine.
At UCO, students will get an extra day of fall break if 50% of students get vaccinated, two extra days for 60%, and three extra days for 70%.
