Two injured in accident near Shidler

Two people were injured in an accident about 12:30 a.m. Monday on State Highway 18 at County Road 4020, located 4.4 miles south and 0.2 miles east of the Shidler city limits in Osage County.

Colton Vance Waters, 24, of Pawnee, was driving a 2014 Dodge Ram pickup eastbound on SH 18. As he approached a right curve, he failed to negoatiate the curve and crossed the center line, traveling about 159 feet before leaving the roadway to the left. The truck traveled about 180 feet before striking a ditch, continued about 69 feet east across CR 4020 and came to rest in the ditch, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Waters was transported by private vehicle to Fairfax Hospital in stable condition with a facial injury.

A passenger,  Jarred Michael Mitchell, 19, of Pawnee,  was transported by private vehicle to Fairfax Hospital then transferred by ambulance to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa in stable condition with a trunk internal injury.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol report said the cause of the collision was driving under the influence of alcohol.
