Two arrested in connection with Cushing murder, fire

CUSHING, Okla. – The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has arrested two individuals in connection with the murder of 40-year-old Patrick McGuire.

Shortly before midnight on Feb. 19, 2020, OSBI agents arrested 29-year-old Bridgett Barton and 23-year-old Troy Wayne (TJ) Shadowen in connection with the murder of McGuire and the fire that was set to his travel trailer.

Shadowen faces one count each of First Degree Murder, Arson in the First Degree and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle. Barton is charged with one count of Burglary in the First Degree. Both could face additional charges and they are both currently in the Payne County Jail.

At approximately 6:30 a.m. on Feb. 17, 2020, a passerby saw a travel trailer on fire in the 100 block of North Wade. The passerby called 9-1-1 to report the fire. Responders found McGuire deceased. He had last been seen alive around 5 a.m.
