Two Ark City men arrested on drug, firearm complaints

ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. The Arkansas City Police Department arrested two Arkansas City men Monday in connection with a warrant for drug possession and weapon charges.

Terrence Deshawn Box Jr., 38, was arrested on suspicion of one felony count each of criminal possession of a firearm, possession with intent to sell marijuana, possession with intent to sell methamphetamine and possession of a stimulant, as well as one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Box was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in lieu of $43,500 bond through Cowley County District Court in Arkansas City. He remained in custody at the time of this release.

Adrais Duane Smith, 21, was arrested on suspicion of one felony count each of criminal possession of a firearm and possession with intent to sell marijuana, as well as one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to and booked into the county jail in lieu of $21,000 bond through Arkansas City district court. Smith remained in custody at the time of this release.

Officers on Monday executed a search warrant for drugs at 919 South B St. They found Box and Smith both inside the residence at the time the warrant was served.

A search of the residence turned up one ounce of marijuana packaged for sale, half an ounce of methamphetamine, a quantity of ecstasy, three handguns and one rifle, as well as numerous items of drug paraphernalia and $4,500 in U.S. currency.

A defendant’s guilt or innocence is to be determined by a court of law.
