Tonkawa plans Christmas celebration

TONKAWA — The annual Olde Tyme Christmas celebration will be Thursday, Dec. 4 .

If your organization or business would be willing to participate in the parade, please contact the Chamber office at 628-2220.

Activities include children’s crafts, dining at local restaurants, lighting of the tree, parade, Christmas pictures and more. The McCarter Museum will also be open.

From 5:15 to 6:15 p.m., children’s make and take crafts will be offered at 102 West Grand, Tonkawa. Donations will be accepted for the Tonkawa Arts and Humanities Council. Ochoa’s and Mary’s will have $5 specials and snow globe pictures will be taken at Heart in the Park for $5 each.

At 6 p.m., the Christian Life Church handbells will play at 105 East Grand.

The community will gather at 6:30 p.m. for the Christmas tree lightin and downtown decorations. The elementary school Honor Choir will perform.

The Christmas parade starts at 7 p.m. Pictures with Santa will be taken at the Depot Caboose for $5. The elementary schoolchildren will sing at the gazebo and horsedrawn carriage rides will be offered.

At 8 p.m., the Tonkawa High School Band and Choir Concert will be held at the new event center at the high school.
