The Ponca City Chorale Earns Superior Rating

Ponca City Now - April 4, 2024 6:10 am

The Ponca City Chorale recently earned a superior rating on stage and an excellent rating in sight-reading. They performed Wednesday morning at the OSSAA State Vocal Contest held at the OU Catlett Music Center on OU’s campus in Norman.

The group was included 9th through 12th grade students from the Ponca City Chorale program and performed as a 6A group.

The group performed Bogoróditse Djévo (Mother of God and Virgin) by Arvo Pärt and Alway Something Sings words by Ralph Waldo Emerson and music by Dan Forrest, accompanied by Connie VanAusdall.

Director Chad Keilman thanked all of the students  and says he’s very proud of the hard work the Chorale put in for contests this year.

A special thank you also goes to Katie Nichols for her help in preparing the group for contest and to Molly Carter for driving the bus.

The next Choir concert is on Monday, May 13 and will feature the entire vocal music program including the Po-Hi Chorale, Bella Voce, East Middle School Choir and West Middle School Choir.

Concert starts at 7:00pm in the PCPS Concert Hall on Overbrook and is free to the public.

Thank you for your continued support of the PCPS Vocal Music Program.
