The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management is holding a statewide earthquake drill Thursday, also known as the Great Central U.S. Shake Out.

The drill is part of a larger global event to raise awareness on the best ways to protect yourself during a major earthquake.

This year’s drill is scheduled at 10:17 a.m. on Thursday.

Shakeout leaders say that wherever you are during the dill, you should drop, cover, and hold on as if there were a major earthquake.
