Testimony concludes in murder trial of ex-Tulsa officer

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Testimony has wrapped up in the murder trial of a former Tulsa police officer charged in the fatal 2014 shooting of his daughter’s 19-year-old boyfriend.

Shannon Kepler, who is white, was charged with murder in the death of Jeremy Lake, who was Black, after his state manslaughter conviction was overturned.

Kepler was the last witness to testify on Friday. He says Lake was armed and that he shot in self-defense. However, no weapon was found at the scene.

Closing arguments are scheduled for Monday.
