Students make presentation at City Hall

East Middle School students recently participated in an Engage2Learn Research Project involving real life applications.

The students, from Rena Clyburn’s science class, researched, created and presented persuasive arguments using technology to convince the public and local government leaders to mandate the replacement of English Standard Measures with SI measures (metrics) as the accepted measurement system.

The final presentation involved a group of students presenting their argument to local city officials. The presenters were Emma Dunnigan, Garrett Bailey, Caleb Edens, Chandler Blake, and Drew (McKenna) Markle.

The city officials were Mayor H omer Nicholson, City Manager Craig Stephenson and Traffic Engineereing Manager Mike Lane.
