St. Louis man injured in I-35 accident

A St. Louis, Mo., man was injured in a collision that occurred at 11:35 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 35, about nine and a half miles north of Perry in Noble County at miile marker 196.

 

Winston Brice Smothermon, 28, of St. Louis, Mo., was transported by MediFlight to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City in stable condition with internal and external trunk injuries.

The 1998 GMC pickup truck he was driving was northbound on I-35, departed the roadway to the left, hit the cable barrier and went down an embankment, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported. It then went airborne over the southbound lanes of I-35, hit the ditch and rolled 1.5 times, coming  to rest on its top.

 

 

Smothermon was ejected about 12 feet south of  where the vehicle came to rest, the Patrol reported.
