Small earthquakes recorded in north-central Oklahoma

MEDFORD, Okla. (AP) – The U.S. Geological Survey has recorded three small earthquakes in north-central Oklahoma.
The largest was a magnitude 3.5 quake at 11:55 p.m. Sunday that was centered about eight miles southwest of Medford.
Grant County Emergency Management Director Rich Donaldson says there are no injuries or damage.
The second was a magnitude 2.9 temblor 16 miles east of Cherokee at 12:22 a.m. Monday and the third was a magnitude 2.6 quake eight miles southwest of Perry.
Geologists say quakes of magnitude 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest felt by humans and damage isn’t likely from quakes below magnitude 4.0.
The Oklahoma Geological Survey has said it is likely that many recent earthquakes in the state have been triggered by the injection of wastewater from oil and natural gas drilling operations.
