Skeletal Remains Found West of Ponca City

The Ponca City Police Department received information Thursday (April 2nd, 2020) evening of some skeletal remains that had been found in a tree line west of Ponca City Nursing & Rehab.

Officers responded and confirmed with the Medical Examiners Officer that the remains appeared to me human.

The scene was held overnight.

This morning the Medical Examiner’s Office and investigators with the Ponca City Police Department Investigations Division are processing the area and collecting remains.  The Medical Examiner’s Office will attempt to identify the remains.

Captain Randy Tyner, PCPD, said, once identified, a name will not be released until the family has been notified.

This is a continuing investigation. Updates will be posted as they are received.
