Sidewalk construction continues

Crews continue rebuilding the sidewalk on the east side of Third Street between Grand Avenue and the alley north of Grand.

The project removed cracked sidewalk pavement and trees which were damaging the sidewalk. A stepped curb design will make the walk more accessible to pedestrians than the former deeper curb.

Once this section of the walk is completed, work will continue from the alley north to Cleveland Avenue.

Plans are to replace the sidewalks on the west side of Third Street after construction work is done on the Community Place Apartments in the Community Building on the northwest corner of Grand Avenue and Third Street.

Traffic Engineering manager Mike Lane said  that work would be done later to avoid damage  to the new sidewalk work on that side of the street.
