NORMAN, Okla. (AP) – Cleveland County Sheriff Joe Lester is warning residents of a telephone scam in which a man poses as a federal Immigration and Naturalization Service employee.

Lester said Tuesday that a resident has reported receiving a phone call from a man claiming to be a federal worker who said there was a warrant for the person’s arrest. The sheriff says no such warrant exists.

Lester said the phone number that appeared on the resident’s caller ID is (209) 381-9819 and is considered a known scam number. He said anyone receiving a similar call should hang up and report the call to law enforcement officials.
