Shawnee Public Schools issued updates on Tuesday, six days after a devastating tornado ripped through the area.

Shawnee Public Schools will remain closed on Wednesday.

In-person learning will begin on Thursday for elementary school students. Busses will run as usual.

Thursday and Friday will be remote days for middle and high school students.

Shawnee High School will be remote for the rest of the school year.

As for Shawnee Middle School, the district will have more info on if they can go back to in-person learning in the coming days.

“The rain today and tomorrow will help us assess the roofing damage there,” said Superintendent Dr. April Grace. “We’ll know if we’ll be able to return on site.”
