Several YMCA staff members resign

The Ponca City Aquatic and Family Center — YMCA has endured financial challenges for the past few months and late Friday confirmed that several staff members have submitted their resignations.

Joel Gilliland, president of the YMCA board, said Friday afternoon that six members of the staff have resigned. He said the effective dates of the resignation vary by employee, but all will take place in May.

Gilliland said the board has been working with the outgoing staff members, as well as the regional and national YMCA organizations, to make things run as smoothly as possible during the transition.

“The people who have resigned have a great heart for the YMCA organization,” Gillilland said. “Each of them made the best decisions for themselves and their families. No one was asked to leave and no one holds anything against them for the choices they have made.”
