School Superintendent Issues Update
Mike Seals - April 5, 2020 10:11 pm
Shelly Arrott, Superintendent of the Ponca City Public School System has issued an update for all parents.
Her letter is below:
PCPS Families,
The PCPS Continuous Learning Activities will posted on each school’s homepage at www.pcps.us BY 10:00 AM on Monday, April 6.
We are asking families to download and print the activities if possible, to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. If downloading activities is not possible, activity packets will be available for curbside pick-up from 4:00-6:00 PM at each site on Monday, April 6. Please refer to the Continuous Learning Guide located on the homepage of our district website which explains the process but does not provide the activities. You may email me at [email protected] if you need me to email you a copy of the guide. However, the guide does not include the activities.
If you need to pick-up the activity packets, several tables will be set up and spread out at each site in the location explained in the PCPS Continuous Learning Guide. Principals will place one packet on each end of the tables and will step back from the tables. Only one person in the vehicle will need to get out of the car to collect the packet. Principals will place more packets on the tables as they are collected. Please collect the packet quickly and pull through to ensure everyone’s safety. Walk-ups are welcome as well, just please practice social distancing. We must all do our part to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Principals will be in their offices from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM on Monday, April 6 to take phone calls and other days as listed in the guide. All contact information is listed in the PCPS Continuous Learning Guide. School buildings will NOT be open as ordered by the Governor and the State Department of Education.
Teachers will be reaching out to students and families the week of April 6 to connect with students, answer questions, provide further information, or to be of assistance with continuous learning. They will be planning digitally with their colleagues to prepare for the next set of activities.
We know continuous learning is new for everyone. Again, please do not worry about the continuous learning process, we will be here to support all our students as they stay engaged and thinking. Right now, the most important things to focus on are staying safe and healthy and positive relationships.
We will get through these unprecedented times together. Our teachers and principals are very excited to begin interacting with students this week. Everyone misses our Wildcats terribly and cannot wait to see them in person again soon.

Sincerely,
Shelley Arrott
