School ends this week

Ponca City Now - May 18, 2015 7:30 am

The Ponca City Public School district is preparing to complete another successful school year.

The last day of school is Thursday, May 21, 2015. School will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m., with the afternoon being reserved for parent/teacher conference time.

Graduation is at 8 p.m. Friday, May 22, at Sullins Stadium. If the weather is bad, the ceremony will be held in Robson Fieldhouse. Attendees may begin to save seats in the stadium at noon Friday. Please remember no blankets, tarps, or tape may be used.

The district will be live-streaming graduation again this year. This will allow people who are unable to attend to watch the event live on their computer, phone, tablets or other.

To watch live, go to www.livestream.com, click “watch” and search for Po-Hi graduation. When you see the picture of the high school, click on it and it will take you immediately to the live event. People can go to the link now and put it on their calendar.

If graduation has to be held inside Robson, the high school will show the event live on the big screens in the Commons area, and attendees are welcome to watch it there.

As the end of the school year approaches, the district would like to remind drivers about the importance of keeping kids safe during the last week of school and throughout summer months. Neighborhood streets will be filled with kids on bikes, skateboards, having lemonade stands – you name it.

Drivers need to be extra cautious in looking for children and observe carefully when driving around playgrounds and parks. Small children are less predictable and harder to see than adults.

Always watch for children as you’re backing your car; walk around the vehicle to make sure there are no small children behind. Pay attention and always anticipate the unexpected. Let’s all work together to keep our kids safe!
