School district hires new head boys golf coach

Ponca City Public Schools have hired Rod Alexander as the new head boys golf coach.

Coach Alexander replaces Bill Stinson, who recently accepted the position of head men’s and women’s golf coach at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas.

Alexander was elected to Class A membership in the Professional Golfers Association of America in July 2000. He has been a golf professional since 1995, South Central Section PGA Western Chapter Professional of the Year 2013, Past President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer of Western Chapter, Past Tournament Chairman, Junior Golf Co-Chairman, Publicity Chairman of South Central Section PGA, National PGA Ambassador, currently serving as the Director of Golf at Lew Wentz Golf Course for 17 years.

“We are excited to have Rod Alexander join our coaching staff here at Ponca City. Rod brings a wealth of experience that will impact our student athletes,” said Athletic Director Jason Leavitt.

Alexander graduated from Tulsa Memorial High School and later graduated from Northeastern State University with a Bachelor in Business Administration.

He has two children, Jayden, 18, and Reagan, 15.
