Roosevelt art students create mural with bottle caps

Art students at Roosevelt Elementary School have created a beautiful Oklahoma mural made out of over 20,000 bottle caps. The students began saving bottle caps last May to be used to create the mural. Students saved lids over the summer, too, and art teacher Mary Morse incorporated work on the mural into her lesson plans this year.

“The students truly enjoyed the mural project,” Morse said.  “I took pictures of my students working throughout the process and put them in a slideshow documenting the project. They collected over 20,000 lids.

“What we did not use for the mural will be used in later projects,” she said.  “They have insisted that if we have the state flag, we also need the American flag. I think they are correct.  We will work towards that goal in the 2018-2019 school year.”
