I-35 narrows at US-60 near Tonkawa June 29 for bridge improvement project

Northbound and southbound I-35 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction between US-60 (mm 214) near Tonkawa and SH-15 (mm 203) in Kay County starting at 8 a.m. Monday, June 29, until further notice for bridge rehabilitation work over the Salt Fork Arkansas River. Drivers should plan ahead for extra travel time in this corridor throughout the year-long project.

The work is focused on repairing the substructures of the bridges and bridge joints. While the work may  not be visible to motorists at times, the lane closures are necessary to help protect the crews and equipment working underneath the bridge.

The nearly $2 million contract was awarded in February 2020 by the Oklahoma Transportation Commission to Logos Construction Co. LLC of Sapulpa. Work is expected to continue through summer 2021, weather permitting.
