Road crews continue salt, sand operations

Ponca City Now - February 21, 2018 9:11 am

Salt and sand operations continue this morning across a few counties in central and eastern Oklahoma. Crews are focusing on bridges and overpasses and recommend allowing extra travel time during the morning commute.

Slick spots are reported and being addressed along I-35 in central Oklahoma. Isolated slick spots, particularly on bridges and overpasses are reported in eastern counties of Wagoner, Cherokee, Adair, Muskogee, Okmulgee and McIntosh Counties. Crews statewide will continue to monitor conditions as more weather is anticipated to enter the state today.

There is one flooding-related highway closure at this time in Pittsburg County on SH-31 West, from US-270/Industrial Park west of McAlester west to Haywood.

If travel is necessary, drivers should be alert to slick spots and black ice and should check local weather conditions before traveling and be sure to allow plenty of extra time to reach destinations.
