Road construction to close Ponca City road

Ponca City Now - April 3, 2014 6:18 am

Road construction will begin on Fairview between Bradley and Patton tomorrow.

The city is removing the pavement and replacing it.

Jim Fairbanks, city engineer said this will cause that area of the road to be closed.

“ Local traffic can come in, the local residents, local businesses, the folks that need to get in there," Fairbanks said. "We are discouraging all other traffic from going through that work zone, asking them to detour around it.”

They plan to close the road Friday and should be opened back up Sunday.

The city has already done some curb and gutter work in preparation for this project.

Fairbanks said this project is long overdue.

“The asphalt over there on Fairview, I think is 20 plus years old existing surface and it was starting to deteriorate pretty bad and it was just in need of some maintenance work, so that’s were we’re at,” Fairbanks said.

The city has been waiting for a nice weekend to finish this project.

Evans and Associates is completing the project.
