MIDWEST CITY (KOKH) – State Representative Terry O’Donnell will resign as Oklahoma House Speaker Pro Tempore according to an official statement after he and his wife were indicted by a federal grand jury in December.

Rep. Terry O’Donnell and Teresa O’Donnell face eight counts in Oklahoma County District Court including conspiracy against the state, perjury, and official misconduct.

The statement claims the accusations against O’Donnell and his wife are false:

“Political operatives in Oklahoma City have a personal vendetta against me and are working to discredit our family’s character and destroy our reputation.”

O’Donnell and his wife voluntarily turned themselves in to the Midwest City Jail on Thursday.

The most severe offense against the couple, conspiracy against the state, has a maximum punishment of 10 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.
