Rep. Nichols Files Multiple Bills Ahead of Final Legislative Session

TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — Rep. Monroe Nichols (D-Tulsa), who is a candidate for Tulsa Mayor, has filed legislation for his final legislative session.
“The issues plaguing Oklahoma communities are not going to wait for someone else to act,” Nichols said. “Every year the legislature comes into session, and we have an opportunity to make decisions that will positively impact the citizens we serve. These bills are filed, many with bipartisan support, because working together and investing in ideas and outcomes that put people over politics should always be our priority.”
The following legislation has been filed by Nichols for the 2024 legislative session,
- HB3243: Increases the affordable tax credit to $15 million until 2029.
- HB3244: Creates a regional education partnership grant administered by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.
- HB3245: Repeals Oklahoma’s Anti-Red Flag Law.
- HB3246: Allows municipalities with a population of 300,000 or more to address gun issues by city ordinance.
- HB 3247: Provides a state employee pay raise.
- HB 3248: Creates outcome grants for Oklahoma community colleges.
- HJR1049: Allows qualifying districts to create a local economically disadvantaged levy to support schools in the districts.
