PAWHUSKA, Okla. (KOCO) — Oklahoma native Ree Drummond, known to many as The Pioneer Woman, gave an update Monday on her two family members who were injured in a crash involving fire trucks last week.
Drummond’s husband, Ladd, and nephew Caleb were responding to a wildfire near the Drummond Family Ranch when their fire trucks collided.
In an update posted to The Pioneer Woman’s official website, Drummond said both Caleb and Ladd are going to be OK. She said Caleb broke some ribs, had a concussion and suffered a few other injuries that will heal. Ladd broke his neck in two places, and Drummond said one of the fractures was, “very close to being catastrophic.”
Drummond said Caleb is back home and doing well, and she and Ladd were able to come home Sunday afternoon. She said it was hard to see them in pain, but the situation could have been worse.
“So rather than wish the accident didn’t happen, I’m gonna live in a state of gratitude—not just for the guys being okay, but also for the love, kindness, and prayers of so many of you,” Drummond said in the post. “Thank you all so very much for reaching out to our family and for keeping us in your hearts through the past several days. I can’t tell you how much it means to all of us, and I’ll never, ever forget it!”
