Red Cross providing housing for storm victims

Ponca City Now - September 3, 2014 8:05 am

DEWEY, Okla. (AP) – The American Red Cross is providing emergency housing for Washington County residents affected by severe storms that tore through the area Monday evening.

The relief organization says the facility is located at Bluestem Baptist Church in Dewey, and is expected to open by Tuesday afternoon.

Classes were canceled in Bartlesville after the storms swept through the area, knocking out electricity to many areas of the northern Oklahoma city.

The Monday storms also downed tree limbs and power lines in Craig, Osage and Nowata counties. No injuries were reported.
