On Sunday morning at approximately 2:25am Deputy John Grimes reported to Kay County dispatch that he was in pursuit.  Grimes stated that he was working traffic on Highway 60  near the I35 exits. Grimes checked the speed on a dark colored truck at over 100mph in a marked 70mph zone. Grimes attempted to stop this vehicle as it entered the southbound lanes of traffic on I35. This vehicle failed to yield to Grimes. Grimes continued to pursue the vehicle through the construction zones near the 211 mile marker. The pursuit became a felony pursuit at this point because of the vehicle running other vehicles off the roadway in attempt to flee from Grimes.
The vehicle came to a stop near the 210 mile marker at which time Grimes began giving  verbal commands.  Grimes stated the driver exited the vehicle and showed signs of intoxication. Grimes stated that the driver refused to comply with any instructions and shouted at Grimes to shoot him. From this point the driver became aggressive towards Grimes and other deputies. Grimes deployed his taser and took the driver into custody. The driver was identified as Ricardo Allen Ramirez.
