Donald Trump named 2024 Person of the Year by Time Magazine
President-elect Donald Trump has been named Time Magazine’s “Person of the Year” for 2024, a recognition he has received twice now.
The publication revealed Trump on the cover on Thursday, Dec. 12, along with a transcript of an interview with the next commander-in-chief, tackling a wide range of topics including his election victory, the future of the MAGA movement, and his plans for a second term, including deporting millions of migrants.
The magazine called Trump’s political rebirth “unparalleled in American history.”
“For 97 years, the editors of TIME have been picking the Person of the Year: the individual who, for better or for worse, did the most to shape the world and the headlines over the past 12 months. In many years, that choice is a difficult one. In 2024, it was not,” wrote the magazine.
Trump was also named “Person of the Year” in 2016 by the magazine after his rise to the presidency.
Trump rings bell
On Thursday morning, Trump rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange and made comments on the recognition, reported the Associated Press.
“Time magazine, getting this honor for the second time, I think I like it better this time actually,” he said.

History of Time’s ‘Person of the Year’
The first title of Time Magazine’s person of the year went to aviator and author Charles Lindbergh, who was proclaimed Man of the Year for 1927. Since then, the magazine has annually selected what is now known as the Person of the Year — the man, woman, group or concept that had the most influence on the world during the previous 12 months.
