Ponca Wrestling Hosts Perry Tonight

Tina Christian - January 30, 2020 9:04 am

When asked, Wrestling Coach Jared Wynn had really positive things to say about his squad of Wildcat Wrestlers. “We had our district duals last Tuesday which were against Sand Springs, Muskogee and Sapulpa. We beat Sapulpa and Muskogee but fell short against Sand Springs. We wrestled well and didn’t give up.

Today (Thursday) we are dualing Perry at Home. Junior high starts at 6:00pm and High school will follow. They are a very tough team with a lot of tradition but if we wrestle hard each match we have the opportunity to beat them.

Saturday we are hosting the Big 4 + 4 tournament here in Ponca City at the Robson Fieldhouse. Doors open at 9:00am and wrestling begins at 10:00am. Please come out and support the Wildcats as we compete against some tough teams.

I am very proud of these guys and the progress we have made this year. We may not be winning everything but we are wrestling well. We are getting compliments from other coaches about how we show up ready to wrestle and go hard each time. Small accomplishments are what we are looking for, so we can get the end result we want.”

Also tonight is Po-Hi Freshman Spirit Night during the Junior High, Junior Varsity, and Varsity Wrestling matches vs. Perry at Robson Fieldhouse. Matches begin at 6:00 PM.

Freshman students who have their school ID will have free admission and will receive a Wildcat Way Spirit T-shirt. Freshman IDs are color-coded with yellow frames around each students’ picture on the badge. The Spirit Shirt table will be located at the northeast corner of the mezzanine in Robson. Come out and support our Wrestling Wildcats!
