Senior Daysha Gilpin has been named the first Ponca City High School Wildcat of the Week for the 2019-20 school year.

Superintendent Shelley Arrott said, “The traits of the Wildcat Way are Work Ethic, Improve, Leadership, Discipline, Compete, Attitude, and Teamwork. Daysha, without doubt, has implemented these traits into her life to be the best version of herself. Daysha is captain of the Po-Hi Cheerleaders and pushes herself in practice each day to continually represent Po-Hi and the District to the best of her ability. She leads the entire cheer squad to follow her example.

“The most important choice Daysha makes each day is her attitude, and she always makes the choice for it to be positive! Even though she is extremely busy with cheerleading, high school activities, concurrent enrollment, and being a great friend, one will always find Daysha with a smile on her face and treating her peers and adults with respect,” Arrott said.

“I have known Daysha since she was in Prekindergarten, and she exhibited the traits of the Wildcat Way before she ever knew they existed. Daysha is a caring and kind individual and is an excellent choice for Wildcat of the Week because she exhibits the characteristics of the Wildcat Way in all she does. Thanks for being a wonderful role model for all Wildcats, Daysha!”

The “Wildcat of the Week” Award is sponsored this year by Heather Cannon Honda.  The chosen student receives a Wildcat of the Week T-shirt, a Wildcat window sticker, and a coupon for a burger basket from Ground Round. The award is sponsored by Team Radio, Tyndall Family Dentistry, Ground Round, and Legacy Signs. The award is open to any Ponca City High School student.
