Ponca City Residents Pass Bond Issue

Ponca City voters overwhelmingly passed a $49.7 million bond project on Tuesday with an almost 81 percent pass rate. With 100 percent of precincts reporting, unofficial results from the Oklahoma Election Board shows the project passed by a vote of 1,494 (80.98 percent) to 351 (19.02 percent).
Superintendent Shelley Arrott was thrilled with the passage. “I am so appreciative and overwhelmed by our community’s support of this historic bond election, but I’m also not surprised. Every time we ask for our community’s help, our patrons never say no. They always ask how they can help and when can they get started. Ponca City is willing to make the investment for our greatest asset, the children of Ponca City, and our citizens did not waver from their consistent support for our students and our school.”
“This bond project is not just an investment in the lives of our students and our schools, it is an investment in our community. The people make a community, and our community recognizes the importance of having a great school and rallying together to give our students the best opportunities to excel in life,” said Arrott.
“Our community sells itself. We all work together for the greater good, and I am very proud to call Ponca City my home. Thank you for ‘holding that line’ to support all of our students, the Ponca City Wildcats. Wildcats defend each other at all costs, and our community has undoubtably proven that today.”
Adam Leaming, Executive Director of Operations Intern, said, “I’m blown away by the community’s overwhelming support for today’s bond issue. It’s clear our community supports this district’s vision to bring forth multi-generational projects that will forever improve our educational opportunities for our students.”
“The real work begins now,” said Leaming. “We look forward to manifesting these projects with our construction managers and architects.”

This seven-year bond package also includes an additional $10 million of CARES funds that will allow improvements to the district that aid in the mitigation and spread of COVID-19.
“This project will make an impact on generations of Wildcats,” said Arrott. “I am so excited for the opportunities and experiences that will be in our students’ future.”
