Ponca City resident dies in fatality collision near Tonkawa

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported a fatality collision occurred about 10:20 a.m. Saturday on I35 southbound at mile marker 210, about 2 miles west of the Tonkawa, OK in Kay County.
The patrol said the accident involved a 2015 Ford driven by Norman Dollarhide (SIC), 53, of Tonkawa, OK. Dollarhide was not injured.
A passenger in Dollarhide’s vehicle, Lesley Dollarhide, 47, of Tonkawa, OK was also not injured.
The second vehicle involved was a 2016 Peterbilt driven by Christopher Wilhite (SIC), 48, of Larned, KS. Wilhite was not injured.
A pedestrian, Eric Ailey, 25, of Ponca City, OK was transported by AirEvac to Wesley Hospital in Wichita, KS. Ailey was pronounced dead a the hospital by Wesley Hospital medical staff from head, trunk internal, trunk extrnal, arm, and leg injuries.
The Highway Patrol’s report stated that Dollarhide’s and Wilhite’s vehicles were travelling southbound on I35. Ailey walked in front of Wilhite’s vehicle, causing Wilhite’s vehicle to strike Dollarhide’s vehicle and Ailey. Dollarhide’s vehicle departed the roadway to the left. Wilhite’s vehicle departed the roadway to the right. Seatbelts were equipped and in use in both vehicles.
