Ponca City Public Schools honor Ashlee Patterson

Ponca City Now - April 3, 2019 11:25 am

Superintendent Shelley Arrott, Wildcat of the Week Ashlee Patterson, and Po-Hi Principal Thad Dilbeck.

The 8th Wildcat of the Week is sophomore, Ashlee Patterson.

“Ashlee is a highly talented music student, and she is very involved in Po-Hi Chorale and Orchestra,” said Superintendent Shelley Arrott.  “She is often a vocal soloist in music performances and during the inaugural concert in the new Concert Hall, “Orchestras in Review,” Ashlee provided a wonderful vocal rendition of “You Raise Me Up” as the Po-Hi Symphony Orchestra accompanied her.  The performance provided those in attendance a wonderful experience that literally brought chills and tears because it was so beautiful.

“Not only is Ashlee a talented musician, but she is an all-around great student who is respectful and has a positive attitude,” Arrott said.  “She is very involved with activities at her church, and she shows great leadership skills in everything she does.  Ashlee is one of those students who you would never know is just a sophomore. She carries herself with dignity, maturity and pride, while remaining humble and caring.   She truly exemplifies the Wildcat Way.

“I was Ashlee’s elementary school principal, and she has been demonstrating these characteristics even before she knew about the Wildcat Way.  Ashlee Patterson is very deserving of this award, and the District is super proud to have Ashlee as a Ponca City Wildcat,” Arrott said.

Po-Hi Principal Thad Dilbeck and Arrott presented Ashlee with a “Wildcat of the Week” T-shirt, Wildcat window decal, and a gift certificate from Ground Round.

The “Wildcat of the Week” Award is sponsored this year by Heather Cannon Honda. The award is for a deserving high school student who follows the characteristics of the Wildcat Way which are Work Ethic, Improvement, Leadership, Discipline, Compete, Attitude, and Teamwork. These characteristics may be exhibited in any setting and is open to all Ponca City High School students.

Several Ponca City patrons were involved in making the “Wildcat of the Week” a reality. These partners include: Tina Christian, Senator Bill Coleman – TEAM Radio, Heather Cannon – Heather Cannon Honda, Ground Round, and Tyndall Dentistry.

Each week a new “Wildcat of the Week” will be selected from the nominations of TEAM Radio listeners and viewers.
