Ponca City Medical Center Receives Award For Third Year

Ponca City Medical Center is one of nine centers recongized in Oklahoma for its quality of clinical care in 2012.

The joint commission, the leading accreditor for healthcare organizations gave out the award.

Eric Lybarger, medical center marketing director said this award specifically refers to care for things such as heart attacks, children’s asthma and inpatient psychiatric services.

“They take those as sort of a baseline and they see how we perform in those areas compared to other hospitals," Lybarger said. "We are in the top 95 percentile.”

Ponca City Medical Center is part a handful of centers that has received the award three years in a row.

A little more than 1,000 hospitals in the country get this award.
