Ponca City Man Killed, Wife in Critical Condition Following Vehicle Accident on I-35 Thursday Morning

Noble County-

A fatality collision occurred Thursday morning at approximately 7:13 am on Interstate 35 southbound at mile marker 177, approximately 2.5 miles east of Orlando, Oklahoma, in Noble County.

A 2020 Toyota 4Runner, driven by Gregory Arnold, age 57, of Ponca City, was traveling southbound on Interstate 35 when the vehicle departed the roadway to the left, struck a culvert, and entered a broad slide then struck sand barrels, rolled an unknown number of times, struck a bridge pier, and came to rest on its wheels facing north. Arnold was pronounced deceased on scene by Perry Fire & EMS due to head, internal trunk, arm, and leg injuries.

A passenger in the vehicle, Mei Wu Arnold, age 62, of Ponca City, was pinned for approximately 30 minutes and was extricated by Perry Fire & EMS using the Hurst tool and then transported by Lifenet to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City and admitted in critical condition due to head, internal trunk, and leg injuries.

Troopers are investigating the cause of the collision and report that seatbelts were in use.
