Ponca City man injured in accident north of Newkirk

NEWKIRK — A Ponca City man was injured shortly after midnight Thursday on US 77 and Judo Road, 7 miles north of Newkirk.

Roy Mann, 53, of Ponca City was driving a 2013 Kawasaki southbound on US 77. when a 1998 Chevrolet 1500 was turning northbound onto US 77 from Paradise Casino struck him. Mann’s vehicle went off the roadway into a ditch and. the Chevrolet continued northbound on US 77.

Mann was flown by Air Evac to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, where he was admitted in critical condition with trunk internal and leg injuries.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is still investigating who was driving the Chevrolet 1500. The vehicle was abandoned in Arkansas City, Kansas.
