Ponca City man hospitalized after motorcycle collision with 3 cows

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that a personal injury collision occurred at about 5:56 a.m. on Saturday at the intersection of US-60 and Sand Creek Road, about 4.5 miles south of Pawhuska, OK in Osage County.
The patrol said the accident involved a 2019 Harley Davidson Tricycle driven by Melvin Ruthloff (SIC), 70, of Ponca City, OK. Ruthloff was transported by Pawhuska EMS to Pawhuska hospital then MedEvac to St. Francis in Tulsa, where he was admitted in serious condition with arm, leg, and trunk internal injuries.
The patrol said that 3 black cows were also involved in the accident.
The Highway Patrol’s report stated that Ruthloff’s vehicle was travelling northbound on US-60. The vehicle struck the 3 cows. A helmet was in use. The report notes that the weather was foggy. The cause of the collision is attributed to the presence of a domesticated animal in the roadway.
