Ponca City man dies in accident near Newkirk

A fatal collision occurred about 6:45 a.m. Friday at Peckham Road and Waverly Street, about two miles west of Newkirk.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Jerad Going, 36, of Ponca City was driving at 1994 Nissan eastbound on Peckham Road, departed the roadway right, hit a road sign, vaulted off a driveway and began rolling. The car rolled multiple times, coming to rest on its side.

The Patrol reported that while vehicle was rolling, the driver was partially ejected from the vehicle and became pinned by the vehicle at rest in a creek. The vehicle was partially submerged in water.

Going was pronounced dead at the scene due to massive injuries, by Newkirk Police/Fire/EMS.
